Cold War Review
Quick review of the Cold War content learned last semester to frame the article we are going to read (this will be kept up on the board in my room for the rest of this week for students who were absent).
Read slowly and carefully- this is a difficult text, and it's important you understand one piece before moving to the next! As you read, you should:
- Highlight/Underline main ideas. Remember that you shouldn't highlight everything! Be selective.
- Circle and define vocabulary words. Believe me, you'll find some! Use the attached Vocab Sheet for some specific terms.
- Annotate: At least 2 substantive annotations per page. NO EMOTIONAL RESPONSES like "This sucks," or "This makes me angry." These can be:
- Connections to other texts/ideas/experiences
- Questions
- Arguments with the author
- Deep thoughts or musings
- Extensions or applications of the ideas in the text
- Find and label the thesis. Do this LAST, after you've finished the whole article. HINT: It's not on the first page!
HOMEWORK
